BTS Extends Its Global Influence with RIAA Platinum Certifications
BTS continues to soar with record-breaking RIAA achievements
BTS Sets New RIAA Records
The global phenomenon BTS has once again affirmed their massive international influence. On the 23rd of this month, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded new certifications to nine of their songs, illustrating their continued success in the U.S. market.
New Platinum Honors
Among these accomplishments, four songs reached platinum status, which denotes sales of over one million units:
– RUN from the mini-album ‘화양연화 pt.2’
– Blood Sweat & Tears from the full album ‘WINGS’
– DNA from ‘LOVE YOURSELF 承 ‘Her”
– FAKE LOVE from ‘LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear’
Consequently, BTS has accumulated a total of 13 platinum certifications, setting a record for the most platinum certifications held by a K-pop artist.
Solo Artistry
Individual members also achieved incredible feats. Jimin’s solo debut album’s title track, Like Crazy, and Jungkook’s single, Seven (feat. Latto), each earned platinum certificates.
Their monumental hit Dynamite has previously achieved a ‘5x platinum’ status by surpassing 5 million units sold, making them one of only two South Korean artists, alongside Psy’s Gangnam Style, to attain this distinction.
Additional Achievements
In addition to the platinum awards, BTS has also accumulated five new gold certifications:
– Save ME from ‘화양연화 Young Forever’
– Spring Day from ‘WINGS 外전: YOU NEVER WALK ALONE’
– ON and Black Swan from ‘MAP OF THE SOUL: 7’
– Permission to Dance
This brings their total number of RIAA gold certifications to 20.
RIAA Certification Process
RIAA certifications are granted based on the sales and streaming performance of digital singles and albums. The criteria range from gold (over 500,000 units) to platinum (over 1 million units), multi-platinum (over 2 million units), and diamond (over 10 million units). The unit count includes physical and digital album sales, digital downloads, and streaming.
