Band Dynamics Explored as Brave Girls Navigate a New Chapter

On the 16th, the YouTube channel ‘One Mic’ released a video titled, “‘Brave Girls’ Discord?’ Answers to Rumors Amid Yujeong’s Departure and Trio Restructure.” This clip featured Minyoung, of the group Brave Girls, discussing various topics and directly addressing the speculation around the departure of former member, Yujeong.

The Journey of Brave Girls

Brave Girls is a resilient group that underwent a re-debut in 2023 after moving agencies. Initially formed with four members, the group now continues with three, following Yujeong’s exit last year.

Minyoung expressed, “When the three of us, excluding Yujeong, visited Bohol, it coincided with the time Yujeong left. Some people chose to misconstrue our travel, but internally, we had somewhat come to terms with the situation, even if we hadn’t spoken publicly about it.”

She further explained, “A month prior, I had started planning the trip. But within that timeframe, Yujeong decided to leave, leaving only the three of us to make the trip.”

The Emotional Impact

Minyoung talks about Brave Girls and addresses rumors following Yujeong's exit.

Minyoung opened up about Yujeong’s sudden departure, noting the emotional toll it took. “It felt unexpected when Yujeong shared her decision to leave. We spent a significant decade together, and even though we seemed fine externally, individual thoughts and considerations must have existed. All the members respected her decision and decided to part ways in support.”

Personal Ventures and Ongoing Commitment

Amid surrounding rumors about retiring from the entertainment industry and pursuing a café business, Minyoung clarified, “Even at that time, I stated my intention to continue being a singer. I wasn’t planning on just living as a café owner.”

She added, “I even obtained a barista certification after rigorous studying and practical lessons, eventually starting a café which I managed to keep for a year before closing it. Nonetheless, there wasn’t much profit. Running a business was indeed challenging, and I have immense respect for those who are self-employed. Paying wages and handling operations amidst an economically testing period was tough.”

Looking Ahead

Finally, Minyoung concluded by sharing their future aspirations, “Rather than setting a specific milestone for Brave Girls, we want to meet the expectations granted by the public—a group that persists, regardless of adversity, for a long time.”
