BoA to Headline Tribute Stage at 2025 Weverse Con Festival Celebrating 25-Year Career
Global K-pop icon BoA is set to headline the Tribute Stage at the upcoming 2025 Weverse Con Festival, taking place on May 31 and June 1 at the Incheon Inspire Arena. The performance aims to revisit her 25-year musical journey with fans and celebrate her status as a trailblazer who helped globalize K-pop long before the genre found international recognition.
As this year’s honoree on the festival’s signature Tribute Stage, BoA follows legendary artists such as Shin Hae-chul, Seo Taiji, Uhm Jung-hwa, and Park Jin-young. The stage pays homage to artists who left an indelible mark on Korean music history. Organizers described BoA as “an iconic figure in Korean pop history who proved the potential for K-pop’s overseas expansion during a time when the term itself was barely known.”
BoA expressed heartfelt anticipation about the event, stating, “I’m honored to be part of the Tribute Stage, which I’ve always seen as a defining element of the festival. It’s deeply meaningful to commemorate my 25th debut anniversary with so many people who have supported me throughout the years.”
Having pioneered the K-pop wave’s expansion into foreign markets — notably topping Japan’s Oricon Charts in the early 2000s — BoA noted how K-pop has evolved into a cultural phenomenon. “Today, K-pop has secured dedicated categories on major international music charts and clearly established itself as a global culture,” she said.
BoA also highlighted the festival’s unique concept of bringing together multiple generations of Korean music artists. “It’s special to experience performances across various generations in one place. I’ve seen many junior artists cover my songs or mention their admiration for my work. I feel proud — and maybe a little shy — to see them perform directly in front of me during this tribute.”
As for her own stage, BoA teased that it will feature a live band and fan-favorite tracks intended to foster high energy and audience participation. “This is a festival. I’ll perform the songs fans love most with vibrant live band arrangements. Let’s sing together and make memories,” she encouraged.
