Actor Namkoong Min’s Agency Warns Against Manager Impersonation Scam
South Korean actor Namkoong Min‘s management agency, 935 Entertainment, has issued an urgent warning against recent impersonation scams involving individuals posing as staff members of the agency.
In an official statement released on April 9, the agency reported, “We have confirmed instances where scammers are pretending to be our employees in order to gain financial benefits.”
935 Entertainment further revealed that these impersonators are particularly claiming to be managers of affiliated entertainers and targeting small businesses. “They often set up large dinner reservations or place high-value wine orders under the pretense of being for company gatherings, only to no-show, causing significant financial damage,” the agency stated.
Such scams have reportedly resulted in tens of thousands of won in losses, primarily affecting restaurants and wine sellers who are duped into preparing expensive orders for customers who never appear.
The agency emphasized, “935 Entertainment managers and employees will never request money transfers or purchases of goods externally.” They urged anyone who receives such suspicious requests to decline immediately and report it to the police.
“We are taking this matter very seriously and will actively work to prevent further damages,” the statement added.
This is not an isolated issue. Other artists are facing similar scams. Actor Byun Woo-seok’s agency, Baro Entertainment, also confirmed reports of impersonation and announced plans to take legal action. Meanwhile, singer Song Ga-in’s team shared on April 6 that scams involving fake managers attempting to collect money via proxy purchases have been discovered.
As impersonation tactics evolve in the entertainment industry, agencies and fans alike are urged to remain vigilant to avoid becoming victims of fraud.
