A Dazzling Dance Collaboration: BATA and Eunhyuk of Super Junior Make History
The much-anticipated MBC ‘Masked Singer’ 10th-anniversary special episode has left fans in awe with a groundbreaking dance duet performance by BATA, leader of the renowned dance group ‘WDBZ’, and Eunhyuk from the famed boy group ‘Super Junior’.
On the 29th, the stage was transformed as past winners of the ‘Masked Singer’ were invited to celebrate the milestone, with BATA and Eunhyuk stealing the spotlight through their intense dance performance.
First-Ever Pure Dance Stage on ‘Masked Singer’
Under the theme of ‘diversity’, BATA and Eunhyuk turned heads by orchestrating the first-ever all-dance stage, performing to the tunes of Drawing and Like Jenny. As the host Kim Sung-joo commented, “Crafting a stage solely with powerful dance moves is unprecedented. It is also the first collaboration stage of Eunhyuk and BATA. Eunhyuk has come to perform purely by dance.”
Eunhyuk shared his initial hesitations, “When I received the invitation, I thought, ‘Should I sing?’ especially since my fellow member Kyuhyun had left a lasting impression as a former king. But focusing solely on performance and dance resonated with me, so I readily accepted the offer.”
BATA, who made his mark in 2023 with a surprising vocal display as the character ‘Rebellious Discipline Leader’, laughed nostalgically about his singing stint, explaining, “My teammates and friends lightly teased me when I sang on Masked Singer. I was excited to be asked to only dance this time, so I had no worries participating.”
Phenomenal Reactions and Viral Choreography
The performance did not go unnoticed. BATA’s choreography for ‘Like Jenny’ has achieved a viral hit, with over 13 million views for its demonstration video.
Notably, even celebrity judges showed high regard for BATA, with one humorously questioning him, “Didn’t your team at WDBZ create the choreography for Like Jenny? You seem to be involved with many projects these days.”
Future Prospects and Legacy
Amidst the excitement, host Kim Sung-joo pondered, “Would a dance battle with masked dancers gain traction through voting?” which led to Eunhyuk humorously suggesting, “How about we take ‘Masked Dance King’ to my YouTube channel?” sparking laughter all around.
Fan and music icon Yoo Young-suk expressed heartfelt gratitude, sharing, “My childhood dream was to be a B-boy. Even though I gave up early due to lack of talent, it feels like you lived out my dream.” BATA encouraged aspiring dancers, “There’s a misconception that you have to start art or dance early in your life. I started in college at 20, and it wasn’t late at all.” When asked if Yoo Young-suk could still try dancing, BATA assured, “It’s never too late. As long as you find happiness in dancing, that’s all that matters.”
