Our Unwritten Seoul Premieres with a Shocking Twist: Park Bo-young’s Double Life Begins

Park Bo young stars in Our Unwritten Seoul as twins trying to overcome trauma and switch lives

tvN’s latest weekend drama Our Unwritten Seoul launched with a gripping premiere on the 24th, shining the spotlight on Park Bo-young in her dual roles as twin sisters Yoo Mi Rae and Yoo Mi Ji. The first episode introduced viewers to the emotionally turbulent world of the twins, culminating in an unexpected identity switch proposal that sets the tone for the rest of the series.

In a powerful sequence, Mi Ji visits her twin sister Mi Rae in Seoul with homemade side dishes prepared by their mother Kim Ok Hee (played by Jang Young Nam). Upon arrival, she witnesses Mi Rae attempting to end her life after succumbing to burnout caused by relentless workplace bullying. Mi Ji intervenes just in time, grabbing her sister’s hand at the edge of the rooftop and saving her from falling.

Seemingly successful and employed at a prestigious finance-related public corporation, Mi Rae’s inner turmoil is revealed in heartbreaking detail. Despite Mi Ji’s attempt to persuade her to leave her toxic job, Mi Rae refuses, tearfully expressing her fear that starting over feels even more hellish.

Haunted by the event, Mi Ji reflects, “If I’m pushed that far emotionally, I always end up making extreme decisions. It’s all because of my name.” Determined, she finds Mi Rae again—this time on a Han River bridge—and offers a radical solution: a complete life swap. “Don’t quit. Don’t endure. I’ll do it for you, like we used to. Let’s switch places. I’ll be you, and you’ll be me.”

This intriguing proposal is rooted in the twins’ childhood dynamic, where Mi Ji would take Mi Rae’s bitter herbal medicine and Mi Rae would complete Mi Ji’s schoolwork in return. With Mi Rae tentatively accepting the plan, the drama teases a compelling journey filled with secrets, heartbreak, and the rediscovery of identity.

Our Unwritten Seoul promises to blend emotional depth with thrilling narrative twists, anchored by Park Bo-young’s nuanced performance. As the story unfolds, audiences can expect to explore themes of identity, familial bonds, and survival in the pressure-cooker of modern urban life.
