K-pop Girl Group I-dle Joins IU on ‘IU’s Palette’ for a Candid Talk and Live Stage

I-dle discusses songwriting and performs live with IU on her YouTube show IUs Palette

On June 22, the sensational K-pop girl group I-dle (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua) made an appearance on ‘IU’s Palette’, a popular YouTube talk show hosted by the beloved artist IU (Lee Ji-eun). The episode aired on IU’s official channel ‘이지금’, showcasing a warm and friendly conversation between long-time mutual fans.

The group took time to discuss their latest mini album ‘We are’, with member Soyeon emphasizing its significance: “This is the first album where all members participated in songwriting and composing. It holds special meaning because Shuhua took part in writing lyrics for the first time.”

Shuhua, originally from Taiwan, opened up about her experience writing lyrics in Korean. “It was tough, but Soyeon helped me a lot. I wrote my thoughts down and used a translator for several weeks. It was a big challenge,” she revealed.

They also shared behind-the-scenes stories about their live band performance of the title track ‘Good Thing’. “This song has a lot of autotune effects,” Soyeon noted with a laugh. “But our members sang so well that it was hard to apply the effects. The editing was a struggle!”

When asked about standout moments in their activities, Soyeon smiled and said, “This album is my favorite so far, especially because sporting a shortcut hairstyle is a risky move—it brought out many charming sides during filming.”

IU complimented her by saying, “From every angle—front and side—it’s a hairstyle that doesn’t miss. Your head shape is lovely!” The rest of the group chimed in, playfully adding, “You should be thankful for that.”

The episode’s highlight was the ‘Color Switch’ segment, where I-dle rearranged and performed IU’s hit song ‘Coin’ in their own funky style. “We chose ‘Coin’ because we could actually imagine how we would sing it,” said the members, explaining their unique reinterpretation of the track.

This special crossover showcases not only musical camaraderie but also the evolving artistry of I-dle, who continue to stretch creative boundaries on a global scale.
