Gyeonwoo and the Fairy: A Soul-Saving First Love Between Fate and Fantasy

Chu Young woo and Jo Yi hyun star in Gyeonwoo and the Fairy a magical Korean romance drama

Set to premiere on June 23, Gyeonwoo and the Fairy, tvN’s latest Monday-Tuesday drama, promises an unforgettable blend of fantasy, first love, and fate. Adapted from a popular webtoon, the series tells a gripping tale of Bae Gyeon-woo (played by Chu Young-woo), a boy born with a fatal curse, and Park Sung-ah (played by Jo Yi-hyun), a teenage shaman determined to change his destiny.

The teaser video recently released offers a glimpse into an electrifying first encounter between the two leads. The atmosphere shifts dramatically as Bae Gyeon-woo enters the mystical hallway of Park Sung-ah’s temple. With flickering candles and a whisper of danger—“Too dangerous,” someone murmurs—the scene pulses with supernatural tension. But when the two lock eyes, the darkness lifts, hinting at a romance powerful enough to reverse fate itself.

Park Sung-ah is no ordinary high school girl. By day, she navigates teenage life; by night, she channels spirits to guide people as a gifted shaman. Despite her jam-packed schedule, she can’t help falling for the dangerously handsome Gyeon-woo, who soon becomes her sole focus. She turns into his personal protective talisman, using her powers to shield him from misfortune—sparking a romance that’s as heartwarming as it is otherworldly.

Gyeon-woo, on the other hand, wears a tough exterior forged from a lifetime of bad luck. Once an archery prodigy, his life took a turn due to his deadly fate. That is, until he meets Park Sung-ah, who becomes a beacon of ordinary happiness he never thought he’d deserve. Her influence jolts him into a reality where hope, love, and new beginnings are possible.

Helming the series is director Kim Yong-wan, acclaimed for genre-hopping hits like The Cursed and If You Wish Upon Me, working alongside screenwriter Yang Ji-hoon. Produced by heavyweights CJ ENM, Studio Dragon, Dexter Pictures, and EO Content Group, their collaboration heightens anticipation for a uniquely Korean teenage romance enriched with fantasy and spiritual folklore.

Joining Jo Yi-hyun and Chu Young-woo is up-and-coming actor Cha Kang-yoon, rounding out a youthful and dynamic cast that’s already generating buzz online. The drama is ready to debut a new wave of “soul-saving romance” that mixes destiny, danger, and desire.

Don’t miss the premiere of Gyeonwoo and the Fairy this June 23 on tvN, and prepare for a whirlwind of teenage love that defies the heavens.
