IU Drops ‘Minecraft’-Inspired Teaser for Remake Track ‘Dream of Square’

IU merges Kpop and Minecraft in teaser for Dream of Square from remake album Love Poem Set

K-pop superstar IU has captivated fans once again by fusing retro charm with digital creativity. On June 23, her label EDAM Entertainment released a teaser for the track ‘Dream of Square’ from her upcoming remake album Love Poem Set, shared via IU’s official social media and YouTube channel.

What sets this teaser apart is its unique visual format: the entire video was crafted in the unmistakable block-style universe of Minecraft. This approach isn’t just visually nostalgic—it perfectly complements the song’s thematic message centered around square-shaped items such as beds, windows, backpacks, and classrooms.

The teaser begins with a familiar game-loading screen reminiscent of Minecraft, where words like “KKOT-GALPI3” and “IU Dream of Square” announce the start. Viewers are greeted by an avatar of IU, who wakes up in bed, decorates her room, and gazes out the window—scenes that deepen viewer immersion through pixelated storytelling.

Throughout the teaser, the re-arranged instrumental version of “Dream of Square” plays in the background, laden with in-game sounds that make the visuals even more compelling. Toward the end, IU’s soft vocals overlay the visuals, elevating fan anticipation for the full track.

This innovative music-gaming collaboration was made possible with support from the Korean division of Microsoft. The teaser was directed and produced by Jamttul, a popular Minecraft creator with over 2.32 million YouTube subscribers, ensuring a high level of detail and authenticity.

‘Dream of Square’ fits seamlessly within IU’s nostalgic concept for Love Poem Set, accompanied by teaser content such as concept photos, a tracklist video, and a creative ARS event, all heightening excitement ahead of the album’s release.

Love Poem Set will officially drop on June 27 at 6 p.m. KST across all major music streaming platforms.
