Meet the Brainy Stars of ‘Brain Academy’: Jeon Hyun-moo, Ha Seok-jin, and More Join Forces for Knowledge Showdown

Jeon Hyun-moo and cast members spotlight knowledge and humor on Brain Academy quiz program

Channel A is launching an all-new premium quiz show titled ‘Brain Academy Inc.’, premiering on June 29 at 10 PM KST. This innovative program brings together six of Korea’s top ‘celebrity brains’—Jeon Hyun-moo, Ha Seok-jin, Lee Sang-yeob, Yoon So-hee, Hwang Je-sung, and Gwedo—to tackle elite quizzes crafted by some of the nation’s leading scholars.

Host Jeon Hyun-moo, often dubbed the ‘Big Brother’ of the group, expressed his enduring love for quiz shows. “I used to love ‘Quiz is Good’ back in the day,” he recalled. He also shared that in college, he competed in a corporate-sponsored ‘Global Challenger’ contest and placed third with a clever proposal about post-World Cup stadium usage—revealing his sharp planning prowess early on.

Ha Seok-jin, the winner of Devil’s Plan Season 1, joked, “Doing Problematic Men for five years is proof enough of my love for quizzes,” while actress Yoon So-hee claimed, “If I see a quiz, I just have to solve it.” Gwedo, a science aficionado, recalled representing his school in the Science Olympiad and shared his excitement about solving complex, logic-based challenges.

Despite their impressive résumés, each star expressed admiration for one another. Jeon revealed jealousy toward Yoon So-hee’s science background, saying, “I’ve always had a literary mind. She’s got a gift I never had.” Yoon responded warmly, admiring Jeon’s incredible wit and hosting skills. The rest of the cast echoed similar respect for one another’s unique strengths, sparking light-hearted banter and camaraderie that viewers are sure to love.

This brainy sextet will compete for knowledge medals, which also come with prize money. Jeon joked, “I’d love to use the winnings for a cast dinner. I’ve discovered many high-end restaurants recently thanks to my ‘Hyun-moo Plan.’” Some cast members expressed interest in donating their winnings, while Gwedo dreamt of using it to produce science-related content by visiting museums, labs, and academic symposiums.

Each member shared their aspirations for the show. Jeon hopes ‘Brain Academy’ becomes Channel A’s signature program. “Don’t be intimidated by a knowledge show,” he said. “It’s actually a very accessible and enjoyable variety show.” Ha added, “Let’s make brainpower fun and bring back the charm of intellectual entertainment.”

Meanwhile, Lee Sang-yeob highlighted the once-in-a-lifetime insights offered by elite scholars. Yoon So-hee looked forward to embracing diverse perspectives through team discussions. Gwedo concluded on a profound note: “In the age of AI, finding the right answer is easy. But I hope this show helps us discover meaningful answers.”

‘Brain Academy’ airs every Thursday at 10 PM KST on Channel A, promising an intellectual roller coaster filled with laughs, lessons, and light-hearted competition.
