Rising K-pop sensation Gaeul of IVE is set to make her debut as a ceremonial first pitcher at the upcoming Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League showdown between powerhouse teams LG Twins and Hanwha Eagles.
The game is scheduled to take place on May 27 at Seoul’s iconic Jamsil Baseball Stadium. As this is a home game for the LG Twins, Gaeul is expected to spark energy from the mound as the team’s good luck charm and ‘victory fairy’, delighting fans in attendance as she steps up to the mound for the very first time.
The high-profile appearance comes amidst an especially competitive season. The LG Twins, reigning champions since their overall victory in 2023, currently hold the 1st place position with a record of 31 wins, 1 draw, and 16 losses as of May 22. Meanwhile, the Hanwha Eagles are hot on their heels with a strong second-place record of 29 wins and 19 losses, only 2.5 games behind.
Gaeul debuted in 2021 as a member of fourth-generation K-pop powerhouse IVE. The group has since exploded into global stardom with hits like “Eleven,” “Love Dive,” “After LIKE,” “I AM,” and “Kitsch.” Their powerful visuals, catchy hooks, and danceable beats have positioned them at the forefront of the modern K-pop movement.
Their latest release, the third mini-album ‘IVE SWITCH’, dropped in February and immediately crossed the million copies sold mark. Its title tracks “HEYA” and “Accendio” continue to climb charts globally, cementing IVE’s status as one of the most influential K-pop girl groups of their era.
Fans and baseball enthusiasts alike are eagerly anticipating seeing K-culture meet K-sports in this unique intersection of pop and athleticism on game day.
