Cha Tae-hyun and Shin Seung-ho Bond Over Rare ‘Achoo Syndrome’ on tvN’s ‘Handsome Guys’
In the latest episode of tvN’s ‘Handsome Guys’, airing on June 22 at 8:40 PM KST, South Korean actors Cha Tae-hyun and Shin Seung-ho uncovered a rare and hilarious commonality — they both suffer from ‘Achoo Syndrome’, a photic sneeze reflex affecting about 20% of the global population.
While exploring Seoul’s trendy Mullae-dong neighborhood with fellow castmates Kim Dong-hyun, Lee Yi-kyung, and Oh Sang-wook, the ‘Handsome Guys’ crew took on a culinary mission to recommend the best lunch and dinner menus — known in Korean as ‘Jeommechu’ and ‘Jeomechu.’ But the food hunt quickly turned comedic when Cha Tae-hyun and Shin Seung-ho exited a local eatery and immediately burst into synchronized sneezing under the bright sunlight.
Shin Seung-ho couldn’t hide his excitement at finding a fellow sun-triggered sneezer. “Hyung, do you also sneeze when you see sunlight?” he asked, eyes gleaming. He even began recruiting others: “Anyone else here sneeze when they look at the sun?” sparking laughter among the cast.
Taking their newfound sneezing bond further, Shin Seung-ho transformed into a culinary sensei for the seemingly appetite-challenged Cha Tae-hyun. Dubbed ‘Professor Chewmaster,’ Shin shared detailed explanations about the origins of dish names and how to best enjoy them — awakening Cha’s taste buds in the process.
The food journey culminated in a ramen feast, as Shin Seung-ho declared, “This is Shin Seung-ho’s special set.” He ordered three types of ramen with different soup base colors and stacked a jaw-dropping nine slices of pork chashu. Cha Tae-hyun, hypnotized by Shin’s enthusiasm, devoured the noodles at lightning speed. “Wow, I’ve never had ramen like this before,” he exclaimed, earning his new nickname: the ‘Ramen Locomotive.’
‘Handsome Guys’ continues to charm audiences with its blend of humor, heartwarming moments, and surprising medical trivia. Don’t miss episode 24 on tvN this Saturday evening.
