The Music Awards Japan is a collaborative event backed by five major Japanese music organizations and government agencies. Winners are selected based on objective chart data from Billboard Japan, Oricon, and votes from more than 5,000 industry professionals, making it one of the most authoritative music awards in the country.

First released on December 19, 2022, ‘Ditto’ continues to resonate with audiences, earning accolades nearly two and a half years after its debut. Its enduring appeal is a testament to NewJeans’ unique sound and global reach.

‘Ditto’ has already set several records for the group. The track propelled NewJeans to their international breakthrough by entering both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Top 100 barely six months after their debut. In South Korea, the song dominated the Melon chart for an unprecedented 99 consecutive days, ultimately topping the 2023 year-end chart.

Furthermore, ‘Ditto’ was honored at the Japan Record Awards with the Excellence Work Award—solidifying its status as a cross-border mega hit. With this latest win at the Music Awards Japan 2025, NewJeans continues to redefine global success in K-Pop.
