Lunch Returns with ‘Tokyo Love’ Featuring Verbal Jint After 11 Months
South Korean R&B vocalist Lunch is making a return to the music scene with her upcoming single ‘Tokyo Love’, scheduled to drop on June 5th at 6 PM KST. The announcement came from her agency, Recipe Music, on May 20.
Marking her first release in 11 months since her 2023 track ‘Hold Me (나를 안아줘)’, ‘Tokyo Love’ is a collaborative project that heightens expectations with the participation of Verbal Jint, a pioneer in South Korea’s hip-hop scene.
The track is steeped in the nostalgic mood of late 2000s J-POP, combining Lunch’s silky vocals with Verbal Jint’s signature rap style to deliver a sonically rich experience. According to Recipe Music, the lyrical content features an organic blend of Korean and Japanese, making it cross-cultural while maintaining emotional depth.
Lunch first debuted in 2019 with ‘Hello, Goodbye (기억, 안녕)’ featuring OVAN, and has since earned attention for her reinterpretations of popular tracks like ‘Way Back Home’ by SHAUN and ‘How Have You Been (답가)’. Her short-form content, particularly acoustic covers, garnered viral attention on social media platforms.
Earlier this year in January, Lunch participated in a collaborative track titled ‘Yeon (연)’ alongside fellow artists OVAN, Joosiq, Pianoman, Imsoo, and Kim Chang-woon. Now with ‘Tokyo Love’, she aims to shine once again on streaming platforms worldwide on June 5.
With its unique cross-language presentation and nostalgic production, ‘Tokyo Love’ is poised to resonate not only with Korean fans but also audiences in Japan and beyond.
