Choi Junhee Shares Body Transformation and Speaks Out About Past Abusive Relationship
Choi Junhee, the daughter of late Korean actress Choi Jin-sil, has taken to social media to reveal her dramatic body transformation and the emotional journey that followed. The post, made on June 19, featured before-and-after images showing her impressive 55kg weight loss, with her current weight down to 41.8kg.
“You ask if losing weight changes your life? Yes. Massively,” she wrote, sharing several snapshots of herself that illustrate her physical transformation. The contrast was stark, showing her slimmer frame after turning her life around from both medical and emotional struggles.
Junhee opened up about a past abusive relationship, calling out her ex-boyfriend who had subjected her to ongoing verbal and physical abuse. “He’d say things like, ‘Aren’t you lucky that I’m dating you?’ and ‘Who would date you with that body?’ while raising his hand at me,” she revealed. She also noted that her ex had recently commented on her transformation reel, highlighting the irony of his previous disdain.
Confronting the trauma publicly, she addressed her former partner directly: “Are you watching, my ex-boyfriend? The one who called me fat and cheated on me? Now I’m prettier than the girl you left me for.”
Choi Junhee acknowledged that her weight gain had stemmed from battling Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, a chronic autoimmune disease. She previously reached 96kg during her treatment but has since turned her life around, prepping for a body profile photoshoot and undergoing cosmetic procedures including eyelid and nose surgery.
Beyond aesthetics, Junhee emphasized that the transformation was about reclaiming her power and self-worth. “This isn’t about glorifying superficial beauty. It’s about the self-respect that comes from taking care of your body,” she wrote. “After losing weight, my dating life changed. I see people differently now, I’ve learned to respect myself. No one saved me—I had to save myself.”
She concluded her post with a powerful message: “I didn’t lose weight to get a boyfriend. I became someone capable of love because I finally learned to love myself. Weight loss wasn’t just a number on a scale—it was a declaration of self-worth.”
