Jungkook of BTS Keeps Making History with ‘Seven’ on Global Charts

BTS Jungkook sets Billboard and Spotify records with solo debut track Seven and expands Kpop influence

BTS’s Jungkook is rewriting the rules of global pop music with one record-breaking achievement after another. According to the latest Billboard chart released on May 17, Jungkook’s solo debut single ‘Seven’, released in July 2023, ranks 138th on the Billboard Global 200, setting a milestone for the longest-charting Asian solo artist song at 94 weeks.

The hit also made a significant impact on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart, landing at 78th for its 95th week, highlighting Jungkook’s sustained popularity outside the United States. ‘Seven’ previously held the No.1 spot on the Global Excl. US chart for 9 consecutive weeks and topped the Global 200 for 7 consecutive weeks, marking the first time in history that an Asian artist has accomplished such a feat simultaneously across both charts.

Jungkook has continued his winning streak with other solo tracks like ‘Standing Next to You’ and ‘3D’, which also claimed No.1 positions on both Billboard global charts. These songs maintained long stays, with ‘Standing Next to You’ charting for 47 and 55 weeks, and ‘3D’ charting for 27 and 33 weeks on each respective list.

‘Seven’ debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained for 15 weeks, making Jungkook the first K-pop solo act to achieve such success. In the UK’s Official Singles Chart Top 100, ‘Seven’ debuted at No.3 and remained for 14 weeks, setting yet another record as the longest-charting K-pop solo track on the chart.

On Spotify, ‘Seven’ continues to break records, entering the global weekly top songs chart for an unprecedented 96 consecutive weeks – the longest run by any Asian solo artist. With over 2.4 billion streams and ranking 83rd in Spotify’s all-time most-streamed songs, the track showcases Jungkook’s global dominance in the streaming era.

Jungkook also made streaming history on Spotify by becoming the fastest artist to reach 1 billion streams (before filtering), and set records for the most weekly filtered streams for a male artist track with 89.7 million, and the fastest to 100 million filtered streams as well.

His achievements didn’t go unnoticed. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) recognized Jungkook as the artist with the most No.1 hits (three songs) on the MENA region chart. With four official Guinness World Records under his belt, Jungkook is redefining K-pop’s impact on the world stage.

Most recently, at the upcoming 2025 BMI Pop Awards, Jungkook was named a four-time winner, setting yet another milestone as the most-awarded K-pop solo artist in the award’s history. His journey continues to inspire millions and solidify his legacy in the global music industry.
