Forestella’s Ko Woo-rim to Be Discharged from Military Service on June 19

Ko Woo-rim discharges from South Korea military service and reunites with wife Kim Yuna

Ko Woo-rim, a member of the crossover vocal quartet Forestella, will officially be discharged from South Korea’s military service on June 19. The singer enlisted in the Army in November 2023 and served with the military band’s vocal unit.

To mark his return, Ko will host a live broadcast on Forestella’s official YouTube channel at 8 p.m. KST, offering fans a chance to celebrate and interact with him for the first time since his enlistment.

Ko Woo-rim’s discharge also signals a joyful reunion with his wife, former Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yeon-a (Kim Yuna). Often described in Korean pop culture by the idiom ‘wearing flower shoes,’ Kim embodies the joy of welcoming her spouse from military service.

The couple originally met in 2018 at the All That Skate ice show, where Ko performed on the congratulatory stage and Kim Yeon-a headlined. After three years of dating, they tied the knot in October 2022. Ko enlisted in the military about a year following the marriage.

Ko first gained public recognition as the winner of Phantom Singer 2, JTBC’s popular crossover vocal competition that aired in 2017. Along with the other members of Forestella, he garnered acclaim for their rich, genre-blending harmonies and operatic style.

As Ko Woo-rim returns to the stage, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for him and Forestella, both in musical performance and public appearances.
