Uhm Jung-hwa Opens Up About Her 15-Year Health Journey and Heartfelt Gratitude
Beloved Korean actress and singer Uhm Jung-hwa recently took to Instagram to share a deeply personal reflection on her health journey following thyroid surgery 15 years ago.
“Fifteen years have passed. Through the lingering aftereffects and trembling voice that followed my thyroid surgery, there were people who quietly and steadfastly stood by me,” Uhm wrote, alongside a photo holding a bouquet of flowers.
In her heartfelt post, she expressed gratitude: “To my beloved Brown and Tanglee, to Super, to my family and friends — thank you and I love you. Thank you for the flowers, Jae-hee. I miss you, Tanglee.”
The attached bouquet carried a touching message: “You’ve done so well adapting to a new life for the past 15 years. I remember every moment better than anyone. I respect you and thank you for always overcoming it all.”
Uhm has previously shared that her 2010 thyroid surgery left her with damaged vocal nerves, making it difficult to speak and sing — a major challenge for someone of her performing caliber.
Despite those struggles, Uhm Jung-hwa is making a vibrant return to the screen. She is currently filming Genie TV’s original drama series “My Lovely Liar Star” (‘Geumjjokgat-eun Nae Star’), set to release later this year.
Fans have long admired Uhm for her resilience, elegance, and talent — and this latest message serves as a reminder of the strength behind her success.
