Lee Seung-gi Makes Electrifying Debut on ‘Immortal Songs’ with Lee Hong-gi

Actor and singer Lee Seung-gi made a buzzworthy first appearance on the long-running KBS2 TV show Immortal Songs, sparking laughter and spirited energy alongside close friend Lee Hong-gi of FT Island. The 706th episode aired as part of the “2025 Oh My Star” special, which pairs musical artists in dynamic duet stages.

Lee Seung-gi, celebrating 21 years since his debut, admitted feeling both excitement and pressure before taking the competition stage for the very first time. While preparing for the performance, he playfully pondered replacing Lee Hong-gi when his partner appeared unwell, a moment that revealed both his competitiveness and loyalty.

The duo’s entertaining “frenemy” chemistry based on their shared Jeonju Lee family name had the audience in stitches. Lee Seung-gi stirred up the friendly rivalry by pointing to Kim Ki-tae‘s team as one to watch—and avoid. A lighthearted exchange recalled how Kim misunderstood Lee Seung-gi’s prior stage reaction as a yawn, which Lee clarified as a surprised expression, adding to the show’s humor.

For Lee Hong-gi, the episode was even more layered, as fellow contestants Ahn Sung-hoon, Kim Junsu, Choi Soo-ho, and Jo Jazz were alumni of past audition shows where he served as a judge. Their nerves were quickly calmed, however, by Hong-gi’s encouraging feedback.
