Street Food Fighter Heats Up: Fabri Battles a Losing Streak with Albóndigas Tteokbokki

Street Food Fighter episode features Fabri taking a bold step with Albondigas Tteokbokki fusion dish

The culinary competition is heating up on JTBC’s hit series Street Food Fighter as Fabri’s team, reeling from a two-episode losing streak, returned to the street food battleground to serve up bold fusion creations in hopes of a comeback.

On the latest episode aired on June 13, Ryu Su-young’s team, buoyed by back-to-back wins, faced off with Fabri’s team, who set out to change their luck with inventive fusion dishes like Albóndigas Tteokbokki—a Korean-Spanish twist incorporating traditional Spanish meatballs replacing Korean fish cakes—and the creatively named Full Tteok Full Tteok, a tteok-based dish using pulpo (octopus).

Fabri’s team set up near an elementary school, quickly filling all seats and garnering positive crowd response from the start. Meanwhile, Ryu Su-young’s team situated deeper into a park area initially struggled to attract customers. However, thanks to Jeon So-mi’s out-of-the-box engagement, she managed to rally diners back to their outdoor restaurant, lifting spirits and boosting sales.

In a previous match, tension filled the air when a seemingly strict diner carefully tasted each offering. He turned out to be a local chef who had discovered the pop-up via a newspaper and later praised the food to other guests, adding credibility to the experience with his surprise appearance.

Not one to be outdone, both teams adjusted their offerings on the fly. When faced with vegan customers, Ryu Su-young and Fabri notably prepared plant-based dishes onsite. The adaptability and creativity left a strong impression on both locals and viewers.

Amid all the excitement, Fabri’s team member Hwang Kwang-hee celebrated enthusiastically when diners returned for seconds, exclaiming loudly to Ryu’s team, “They ordered again? Twice?” drawing both laughs and competitive fire.

Although a sauce mix-up momentarily disrupted Fabri’s flow, recovery was swift and professional. Despite early momentum, Fabri’s team was once again outdone by Ryu Su-young’s crew, whose hearty offering of pork ribs and seafood doenjang stew with fresh market ingredients delighted diners—culminating in an impressive 49 servings sold during the contest.

Who will win the next round remains to be seen. The culinary showdown continues in the upcoming episode of JTBC’s Street Food Fighter airing Tuesday, June 20 at 10:40 PM KST.
