Street Food Battle Heats Up with Korean-Spanish Fusion and Celebrity Chefs

Ryu Su young and Favre compete on JTBCs Street Food Battle with bold Korean-Spanish fusion

On a recent episode of JTBC’s hit reality series ‘Street Food Battle’, the heat was turned up as culinary creativity clashed with strategy in the third showdown between Ryu Su-young’s undefeated team and Favre’s passionate comeback crew. The latest episode highlighted a bold attempt by Favre’s team to break their two-game losing streak with adventurous Korean-Spanish fusion dishes.

Held in the scenic Genoves Park, the new challenge showcased not only cooking skills but also tactical placement. Favre’s team scored a prime spot by an elementary school, creating a bustling street food stall vibe, while Ryu Su-young’s team had to battle sparse traffic deep in the park’s forest trail.

Favre’s team debuted inventive dishes like Albondigas Tteokbokki—a twist on the Korean classic using Spanish meatballs instead of traditional fish cakes—and Pul-Tteok-Pul-Tteok, a creative combination of chewy rice cakes and pulpo (octopus) replacing sausages. The fusion won over early visitors, sparking hope for a turnaround.

Meanwhile, Ryu Su-young’s squad demonstrated both flexibility and finesse by catering to vegetarian patrons on the fly. One mysterious guest turned out to be a professional chef who praised their food, boosting team morale. However, lacking vegetables, Ryu Su-young was seen borrowing ingredients from Favre’s kitchen to craft a last-minute special menu.

Despite Favre’s humorous and loud promotional banter, including Hwang Kwang-hee playfully yelling, “They’re ordering again? Twice?!”, Ryu Su-young’s team responded by delivering hearty traditional flavors like pork rib set meals and a seafood soybean paste stew, all made with fresh market-sourced ingredients—and eventually racked up impressive sales once again.

To promote his team’s food, Hwang Kwang-hee went all out, though a cooking mix-up where he confused sauces was narrowly avoided through fast reflexes. Pop icon Jeon So-mi, showing her outgoing personality, helped bring in customers by trekking out to recruit diners and leading them back to their bicycle restaurant setup.

This episode of ‘Street Food Battle’ captured more than just food—it delivered a delicious blend of street culture, culinary innovation, and celebrity teamwork that’s resonating with fans worldwide.
