Seventeen Reimagines Themselves with Explosive New Album ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’
K-pop sensation Seventeen is making a thunderous comeback with their ambitious fifth full-length album, HAPPY BURSTDAY. Released on June 13 via their official social media channels, the tracklist includes an impressive 16 new songs—three group tracks and solo songs by all 13 members—making it the group’s most extensive release to date.
The title track, “THUNDER,” symbolizes Seventeen’s dramatic rebirth and unshakable identity as the group enters its next decade. Crafted by long-time producer duo Woozi and Bumzu, with additional contributions from leader S.Coups, the song uses the imagery of thunder and lightning to portray members expanding their own universes.
The album kicks off with “HBD,” a powerful redefinition of “Happy Birthday,” signaling rebirth and celebration for the group’s 10-year anniversary. Another group track, “Bad Influence,” stands out for its high-profile collaborator—none other than 13-time Grammy winner Pharrell Williams, who served as songwriter, composer, and producer.
For the first time ever, every Seventeen member has a solo track featured on the album. Highlights include The8’s “Skyfall,” Joshua’s “Fortunate Change,” Wonwoo’s “99.9%,” Seungkwan’s “Raindrops,” Hoshi’s dynamic “Damage (feat. Timbaland),” Mingyu’s “Shake It Off,” DK’s “Happy Virus,” and Woozi’s deeply personal “운명.” Tracks like Vernon’s “Shining Star,” Jun’s “Gemini,” Dino’s “Trigger,” Jeonghan’s “우연,” and S.Coups’ “Jungle” emphasize each artist’s individuality and musical growth.
The production team behind HAPPY BURSTDAY is no less impressive. In addition to internal powerhouse producers Woozi and Bumzu, legendary beatmaker Timbaland, known for his work with Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Sam Smith, joins the project. Other contributors include Pdogg, Vincenzo, El CapITxn, and singer-songwriter Ha Hyun Sang, reflecting a diverse and global effort to elevate the album’s sonic quality.
The teaser video for the album tracklist comes from the perspective of fans—nicknamed Carat—as if they’re attending Seventeen’s secret rebirth party. Mysterious clips feature abandoned phone booths and cryptic title stickers, hinting at an electrifying, cinematic listening journey ahead.
The title HAPPY BURSTDAY cleverly fuses “Birthday” with “Burst,” symbolizing a groundbreaking new chapter for Seventeen. Prior to the album’s official release on June 26, the group will hold the BURST Stage live performance event at Seoul’s iconic Jamsu Bridge on June 25, building excitement for what promises to be their most explosive era yet.
