K-pop Star Lim Young-woong Delights Fans with Artistic Side in New YouTube Video
South Korea’s cherished ballad singer Lim Young-woong has once again captured fans’ hearts—not with his voice, but with a paintbrush. On May 13, the singer uploaded a video titled ‘(Pre-release) Hero Scent Added’ to his official YouTube channel, showcasing his attempt at painting ceramics.
In the video, Lim is seen at a Ceramics Studio decorating a clay flower pot. From enthusiastic shouts of “Here comes a masterpiece!” to moments of playful frustration—“Wow, even drawing a single flower is hard”—Lim’s candid and humorous expressions made the content an instant hit. He even poked fun at being a left-hander when he smudged the paint, saying, “This is a lefty’s struggle.”
Despite claiming he has no artistic talent—“I’m not good at coloring”—Lim Young-woong’s humility and self-deprecating humor were on full display. Sharing a childhood memory, he joked, “Back in school, my mom used to do my coloring homework. Maybe I added about 1% of my effort… a touch of synthetic fragrance.”
The video has been generating buzz across social media, with fans expressing their excitement. Comments include, “If this is just a pre-release, new content must be coming! Can’t wait!”, “Your talents lie elsewhere, and we love you for it,” and “Is this pot going to become concert merch? We support you!”
This isn’t Lim’s first venture into ceramics. On Parents’ Day, he shared a heartfelt photo dressed in an apron at a Ceramics Studio. Posting on the official fan café ‘Hero Era’ (Yeongung Sidae), he wrote, “To all of you who are as warm and dependable as parents, I want to express my gratitude and respect.”
Lim recently re-entered the music scene with a new ballad released in collaboration with JTBC‘s drama ‘천국보다 아름다운’ (No official English title), sharing the same name. His fan café, Hero Era, marked its 8th anniversary on May 12, boasting over 210,000 members celebrating the milestone together.
Whether through song or sketch, Lim Young-woong continues to show fans new sides of his personality—and they’re loving every brushstroke.
