K-Drama Adaptation of Hit BL Novel ‘Ball Boy Tactics’ Set for First Half of 2024
One of Korea’s most beloved BL novels, Ball Boy Tactics, is officially being adapted into a television drama scheduled for release in the first half of 2024. Produced by Oak Company, this marks the company’s second big project and comes with high expectations, especially with the casting of rising talents Jaehyuk Choi and Minhyuk Yum in the lead roles.
Based on a popular story by Ji Seung-hyun, Ball Boy Tactics originally gained massive popularity through its novel format, placing No.1 on Kyobo Book Centre’s bestseller list, becoming a steady seller on RIDI, and ranking high on Book Cube. Its overwhelming success led to a webtoon adaptation, further strengthening its fan base.
The story follows the lives of Jung Woo Kwon, a college basketball player, and Ji Won Han, a former national gymnastics athlete who quit the sport due to an injury and now studies photography. Despite having contrasting personalities, the two young men find themselves intertwined in a delicate, emotionally rich narrative of growth and unexpected connection.
Jaehyuk Choi has been cast as Jung Woo Kwon, while Minhyuk Yum will play the introspective yet pure-hearted Ji Won Han. Yum shared his excitement, stating, “There are lots of similarities between my personality and Ji Won Han’s, and I’ll work hard to portray this character authentically.”
Audiences are already thrilled about the pairing, as both actors are known for their striking visuals and unique charm, qualities that align perfectly with the beloved characters from the source material. All signs point to Ball Boy Tactics becoming one of 2024’s breakout K-drama hits.
