A:SIDE Debuts with ‘Fish Sauce’, Introducing a Bold New Wave in New Asia Pop

A SIDE launches debut song Fish Sauce fusing regional culture with modern K pop elements

Rising rookie boy group A:SIDE has officially made their debut with the release of their single ‘Fish Sauce’ on June 10, signaling their entrance into the global pop scene with a fresh and vibrant identity.

Inspired by the A-side of cassette tapes, A:SIDE is built on a unique concept called Modernize Y2K, where nostalgic Y2K aesthetics meet today’s bold street mood. With this, the group embraces generational throwbacks while carving out a modern, edgy presence that resonates across borders.

The group features a diverse multinational lineup: Thai member Minlee, Winnie—a standout from the survival show Boys Planet—Japanese member Ruka, and Chinese member U.jay. Together, A:SIDE is shaking up the Asian pop industry with an unmistakably fresh sound and eye-catching visual direction.

Their debut track ‘Fish Sauce’ introduces the genre-bending style they term New Asia Pop. The song blends bright early-2000s electronic textures with modern dance beats, portraying the group’s daring and witty energy. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Thai condiment ‘nam pla’ (fish sauce), the track introduces listeners to authentic Asian flavor—both literally and figuratively.

With the lyrical symbolism of authentic taste and regional identity, A:SIDE is determined to showcase Asian culture on a global stage through music. The track features choreography by renowned Japanese choreographer YUMEKI, infusing the song with a stylish teenage angst through graffiti-inspired hip-hop aesthetics and expressive streetwear.

The debut project was uniquely realized through an international collaboration involving Korean, Thai, and Japanese creators—a rare move that saw everyone working together on location in Thailand. From production and choreography to visual direction and music video, every aspect of Fish Sauce was born from hands-on teamwork across countries.

Marking an unprecedented level of global cooperation in Thai pop history, A:SIDE has launched with top-tier production and a fierce ambition to reshape Asian music narratives. According to their label Aplan International Group, A:SIDE will be backed with full-scale global marketing and creative freedom as they grow into the next icons of Asia’s global pop frontier.
