Kang Ha-neul Makes a Bold First Impression in Culinary Romance Drama ‘Your Taste’

Kang Ha-neul and Go Min-si ignite screen chemistry in Genie TVs new drama Your Taste

The culinary drama Your Taste officially made its flavorful debut on Genie TV, and the first episode has already left audiences hungry for more. Premiered on June 12, the show serves up a heated first encounter between Kang Ha-neul as perfectionist executive Han Beom-woo and his fiery culinary rival Mo Yeon-joo, played by rising star Go Min-si.

The premiere drew 1.6% viewership both nationwide and in the Seoul metropolitan area, according to Nielsen Korea. The episode kicks off with Han Beom-woo’s life as the second son of Hansang Food Field Group and director of Seoul’s premier fine-dining restaurant, Moto. Known for his relentless standards, Han is more obsessed than ever as he competes with his older brother, Han Sun-woo, for a coveted Diamant Guide three-star rating—an accolade that could determine the successor of the family’s culinary empire.

In his quest for a groundbreaking dish, Han stakes everything on chef Jang Young-hye’s signature Neobiani beef. But a twist emerges on the eve of its debut: a suspiciously similar dish is being served in the city of Jeonju. Determined to resolve the matter, Han visits a vintage eatery named Jeongje, run by the independent-minded chef Mo Yeon-joo.

Han’s careless stepping on Yeon-joo’s prized cabbage leads to a frosty exchange, compounded by his dismissive attitude towards food. However, intrigued by her culinary creation known as Seopsanjeok, Han embarks on an unexpected culinary marathon. From flexing at butcher shops to climbing mountains for luxurious Songi mushrooms, his persistence reflects an unexpected passion.

After finally tasting the Seopsanjeok, Han is so impressed that he offers to acquire Jeongje. Yeon-joo, however, fiercely rejects him with the biting remark: “Do food-obsessed lunatics cook only for money?” Despite her rejection, Yeon-joo faces her own crisis—the restaurant’s rent is overdue, and foreclosure looms just a month away.

Meanwhile, Han finds himself ousted from his executive role after a board vote, leaving him at a crossroads right alongside Yeon-joo. Their intertwined fates tease viewers with potential romance and more culinary battles ahead.

With electric chemistry and high-stakes drama, Your Taste blends fine cuisine, rivalries, and romance into one compelling binge-worthy series. The outstanding performances by Kang Ha-neul and Go Min-si bring life to their spirited characters, making the show an irresistible watch.

You can catch Episode 2 of Your Taste tonight at 10 PM KST on ENA, with an exclusive, free VOD release immediately following on KT Genie TV. The series is also streaming on Netflix, making it accessible to global audiences craving a taste of drama with a gourmet twist.
