Lee Do-hyun Discharged from Military and Poised for Acting Comeback
Rising South Korean actor Lee Do-hyun has officially completed his military duty and is now returning to civilian life. According to industry reports, Lee was discharged from the Air Force Military Band today after enlisting in August 2023.
Despite his service obligations, Lee maintained his presence in the entertainment industry by appearing in the Netflix Original Series Sweet Home Seasons 2 and 3. He also made a notable big-screen debut in the film Exhuma, which premiered in February and propelled him into the elite group of actors with over ten million viewers in a single film in South Korea.
Lee’s acting excellence was further acknowledged when he won Best New Actor in the film category at the Baeksang Arts Awards in May of last year. Dressed in uniform during a brief military leave, Lee captured fans’ hearts with a heartfelt speech, thanking his partner, actress Lim Ji-yeon, by saying, “Thank you, Ji-yeon.”
The couple reportedly began dating before Lee’s enlistment and have remained together since. Lee, born in 1995, and Lim, born in 1990, are one of the most talked-about celebrity couples in Korea.
Following his discharge, Lee Do-hyun is wasting no time and is rumored to be reviewing a new project penned by the famed screenwriting duo Hong Sisters. The drama is also set to feature Go Min-si, with whom Lee previously showcased strong chemistry in Youth of May and the Sweet Home series. Fans are eagerly anticipating another collaboration between these two talents.
