NewJeans celebrates massive streaming milestone as How Sweet surpasses 200 million plays on Spotify

NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) has achieved another major landmark on Spotify. According to Spotify’s data on the 10th, the group’s double single ‘How Sweet’, including its title track of the same name, has officially surpassed 200 million streams — totaling 200,193,975 plays.

This marks the 11th song by NewJeans to achieve over 200 million streams on the world’s largest music streaming platform. First released in May 2023, ‘How Sweet’ embodies a playful hip-hop sound based on Miami Bass, capturing NewJeans’ cool and unique musical identity.

Upon its release, ‘How Sweet’ and its B-side ‘Bubble Gum’ soared to the top positions on Korean streaming platforms such as Melon, Genie, and Bugs. The track also recorded impressive performances on major global charts, including Billboard’s Global 200.

Even nearly a year after its release, ‘How Sweet’ maintains a consistent spot on domestic music charts, proving its longevity and fan appeal. Its global resonance also earned it a place on Rolling Stone’s ‘The 100 Best Songs of 2024’. Rolling Stone praised the track for “continuing NewJeans’ streak of experimental, fresh, and original music.”

To date, NewJeans has amassed over 6.2 billion total Spotify streams across all their releases. Notable songs include ‘OMG’ with over 800 million streams, ‘Ditto’ and ‘Super Shy’ each exceeding 700 million, ‘Hype Boy’ with more than 600 million, and ‘Attention’ crossing the 400 million mark. Tracks such as ‘New Jeans’, ‘ETA’, ‘Cookie’, ‘Hurt’, ‘Cool With You’, and ‘How Sweet’ have each surpassed 200 million streams. Additionally, songs like ‘ASAP’, ‘Get Up’, ‘Supernatural’, and ‘Bubble Gum’ boast over 100 million streams respectively.

NewJeans continues to solidify its position as a global K-pop powerhouse, blending innovative sounds with mass appeal that transcends borders.
