Mr. Trot 3 Nationwide Concert Tour Lights Up Gwangju with Electrifying Performances
The nationwide tour of Mr. Trot 3 continues to ignite excitement across South Korea, with its most recent stop in Gwangju leaving fans breathless. Held over two days (June 10–11) at the Kim Daejung Convention Center, the concert featured an energetic set of three performances, led by the show’s Top 6 finalists—Kim Yong-bin, Son Bin-a, Chun Rok-dam, Choon-gil, Choi Jae-myung, and Chu Hyuk-jin.
The ensemble performed a whopping 25 songs over a three-hour runtime, with each member showcasing their individual flair through dynamic solo and group stages. The show opened with nostalgic hits like “Sanae” and “Nest”, pumping energy into the venue from the get-go.
The first solo act came from ultimate winner Kim Yong-bin with his rendition of “Lover,” drawing emotional applause from the crowd. Introducing himself as the “Third Generation Jin of Mr. Trot,” he shared, “I’ve been through Seoul and Gyeongsang Province, and finally arrived in Jeolla. I’m truly grateful to see so many faces here today.”
Subsequent solo stages included highlights like Son Bin-a’s “Departed Love,” Chun Rok-dam’s “Lover’s Lantern,” Choon-gil’s “Mercury Lamp,” Chu Hyuk-jin’s “Anguish,” and Choi Jae-myung’s ballad “I Loved Only You.”
The chemistry-fueled “Avengers” unit (Son Bin-a, Kim Yong-bin, Choon-gil, Chu Hyuk-jin) followed with an exhilarating version of “Dream Love,” featuring upbeat choreography and heartfelt harmonies.
Duet stages kept the energy alive: Chun Rok-dam and Choon-gil united for “Partner,” while Son Bin-a and Choi Jae-myung enchanted fans with “Together in the Rain.” Kim Yong-bin impressed with his own nostalgic number “Blue Coral Reef.”
Special guests and fan favorites Yoo Ji-woo (8th place) and Namgoong Jin (10th place) lent their voices to the night, performing “Truly” and “Unstoppable Time” (Yoo), and “Your Flower” (Namgoong), displaying their upgraded talents post-show.
Midway through the concert, the performers unveiled a regional-themed medley including classics like “Really,” “Clink Clink,” and particularly “Southbound Train,” a sentimental favorite in the city of Gwangju. “We prepared ‘Southbound Train’ specially for baseball-loving Gwangju,” they shared, igniting loud cheers from the audience.
Fans were treated to an interactive segment titled “Receive Gifts from TOP6” where members gave away personal items chosen through a draw, heightening engagement even further.
The second half of the show spotlighted fresh new tracks like Kim Yong-bin’s “Golden Spoon,” Choon-gil’s “Come Hither,” Chu Hyuk-jin’s “Choo-Choo,” Chun Rok-dam’s patriotic “From Donghae to Baekdu,” Son Bin-a’s “Thank You,” and Choi Jae-myung’s “Because I’m a Man.” Fans responded with synchronized sing-alongs to these catchy new releases.
Fan-favorite performances from the original show resurfaced, including Son Bin-a’s “The Last Leaf,” Choi Jae-myung’s “Yeolliji,” Chun Rok-dam’s “Third Han River Bridge,” and group collaborations like Son, Chu, and Namgoong’s “Arirang from Gangwon Province,” “With You,” and “Darling.”
