Jeon So-min Opens Up About Life, Dreams, and the Dark Side of Fame

Korean actress Jeon So-min opens up about her journey dreams and struggles with online comments

Korean actress Jeon So-min recently made an appearance on the TV Chosun program Delicious Back Alley, where she offered a rare glimpse into her personal life and struggles as a public figure.

During the episode, Jeon took viewers on a culinary tour through the heart of Yongsan, revealing that she has lived in the area for about eight years. “I moved here when I first started living on my own. I haven’t left since,” she shared. “I wanted to live somewhere with a view of Namsan Tower — it made me feel like I’d really made it.”

Now in her 22nd year in the entertainment industry, Jeon candidly spoke about her initial dream. “I originally wanted to be a singer,” she admitted. “Though I’m not very good at singing, I’ve always had the desire. If I get a second life, I’d love to try being a singer.”

She also reflected on her long-standing role in the hit variety show Running Man. “I appeared twice as a guest before becoming a regular. I stayed on for seven years. The hosts handled the hosting part, while I got to build my own fun character through games and comedy. For me, it was such a joyful and fulfilling job.”

Addressing the flip side of fame, Jeon opened up about the emotional toll of internet hate. “The more attention you get, the more hurtful things you encounter,” she said. “If the hate had a reason, I could reflect on it, but most of the time, it just feels baseless. Sometimes I think about getting married sooner rather than later — to build a stronger emotional foundation through someone dependable.”

Through her heartfelt confessions, Jeon So-min continues to resonate with fans not just for her humor and talent, but for her sincerity and strength.
