Royal Palace Heats Up: Yeori Falls Victim to the Cursed Arrow in SBS Drama

Mystery deepens as Yeori suffers from a ghostly curse in the Korean drama Royal Palace

The suspense hits a new peak in SBS’s hit weekend drama ‘Royal Palace’ as episode aired on the 9th unveils an unexpected twist—actress Kim Ji-yeon’s character, Yeori, succumbs to a mysterious affliction inflicted by the ghostly force known as Susalgwi.

In earlier episodes, Yeori and Gangcheol-i (played by Yook Sung-jae) attempted to track down Susalgwi but ended up drinking contaminated water. Soon after, Yeori’s health started to visibly decline.

Desperate for answers, Yeori approached Ok-im (played by Song Su-i), a known Susalgwi spirit, asking for insight on water-dwelling ghosts. However, she was coldly rejected with the remark, “Why are you suddenly clinging like this?”

Meanwhile, the Queen (played by Park So-eun) began manifesting similar mysterious symptoms. Painful blisters spread over her body, and chills gripped her core—leaving the Royal Court in turmoil. A Lady-in-Waiting suggested supernatural causes might be at play. Acting swiftly, Lee-jeong (played by Kim Ji-hoon) summoned Yeori, only to find her detained by the Queen Dowager (Han Soo-yeon).

Lee-jeong promptly visited the Queen Dowager’s quarters, claiming Yeori must leave as she may carry an infectious affliction. In truth, Yeori had begun showing visible boils on her neck—solid confirmation that she too was under Susalgwi’s curse.

Examining her condition, Gangcheol-i remarked, “It’s from the cursed arrow shot by Susalgwi.” Unyielding, even in her state, Yeori cautioned, “The arrow targets the Queen’s unborn child. If we don’t capture Susalgwi, Her Majesty’s life may be in danger.”

With urgency igniting their resolve, Gangcheol-i and Lee-jeong joined forces to capture the spirit. But despite their efforts, Susalgwi remained elusive. In a daring move, Lee-jeong wounded himself and used his bleeding as bait.

Yeori, despite her deteriorating condition, staggered toward where Gangcheol-i was, mentally screaming, “Gangcheol-i, no! It’s a trap!”

The haunting climax hit as Susalgwi finally appeared—grabbing Lee-jeong by the ankle and dragging him underwater, escalating tension to an electrifying cliffhanger.

‘Royal Palace’ continues to mesmerize viewers with its unique blend of traditional mysticism and suspense drama, strengthening its position as a must-watch on Seoul Broadcasting System.
