Immortal Songs Honors the Legacy of Joo Hyun-mi with Heartfelt Mother’s Day Tribute
KBS2’s beloved music program Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend is set to air a deeply emotional episode on June 10, celebrating the life and legacy of a true icon of Korean trot music, Joo Hyun-mi. Marking her 40th anniversary since debut, the show’s 705th episode will explore the theme of ‘Mother’ through stirring reinterpretations of Joo’s timeless classics.
Around five talented acts, including Cheonrokdam, Hong Ji-min, Hong Kyung-min with Eun Su-hyeong, Enoch, and the duo Jo Jazz and OAV, will showcase fresh takes on Joo’s iconic hits. Each performer brings their own flair while paying homage to the original’s emotion-rich melodies and lyrics.
In a particularly touching moment, Hong Ji-min delivers a heartfelt rendition of “A Woman’s Tears” as a dedication to her own mother, drawing tears from the audience. Joo Hyun-mi herself praised the performance, saying, “It truly evoked thoughts of my mother.”
Adding to the emotional resonance, Joo Hyun-mi’s daughter, Suyeon, takes the stage to reinterpret her mother’s hit song Sin-sa-dong That Person, creating a poignant cross-generational tribute that’s sure to resonate with longtime fans and new audiences alike.
