Good Boy: Park Bo-gum and Kim So-hyun Lead a Medal-Winning Crime-Fighting Team in JTBC’s New Action-Comedy Series
JTBC’s upcoming Sat-Sun drama Good Boy is set to punch through the noise with its high-energy blend of action, comedy, and youth-driven crime-solving. Starring Korean heartthrob Park Bo-gum, versatile actress Kim So-hyun, and a dynamic supporting cast including Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok, Good Boy tells the story of former Olympic medalists turned rookie police officers fighting injustice in their own chaotic style.
Directed by Shim Na-yeon and written by Lee Dae-il, the drama focuses on a special task force assembled from ex-athletes, each with their own personal struggles and motivations. Instead of medals, they now wear police badges—taking down corruption and wrongdoing in a society where integrity often takes a backseat.
The newly released second character teaser offers fans a glimpse into the tangled yet entertaining relationships among the quirky team, dubbed the ‘Goodvengers’. Park Bo-gum stars as Yoon Dong-joo, a former boxing gold medalist, now a demoted officer with an iron will. He shares a complicated history with Ji Han-na (played by Kim So-hyun), a sharp-shooting former gold medalist and his “first and last love.”
Lee Sang-yi plays Kim Jong-hyun, a silver medalist fencer and lifetime rival of Dong-joo, adding tension and rivalry to the mix. Heo Sung-tae portrays Ko Man-sik, a bronze medalist in wrestling and the team’s rugged leader, while Tae Won-seok’s Shin Jae-hong—former discus throw bronze medalist—joins the team with personal ambitions of promotion, shielding Dong-joo as a loyal older brother figure.
The team’s interactions are a rollercoaster of conflict and camaraderie. Ko Man-sik refers to Dong-joo as a “stray dog” due to his demotion, yet he hesitates to argue with his superior boxing skills. Balancing serious themes with offbeat humor, Good Boy delivers a unique K-drama cocktail of action, romance, and redemption.
Yoon Dong-joo’s powerful declaration in the teaser—“Run if you can. Anyone in my ring gets knocked down”—sets the tone for the drama’s no-holds-barred, justice-fueled narrative.
Good Boy premieres on JTBC on Saturday, May 31 at 10:40 PM KST and will be available globally via Amazon Prime Video, bringing laughter, thrill, and heart to viewers around the world.
