Meet IDID: Starship’s New Boy Group Arrives with a Global Splash

Final members of Starships boy group IDID confirmed during Debuts Plan grand finale

The global K-pop spotlight shines on Starship Entertainment once again as the intense journey of Debut’s Plan has come to a dramatic finale. The reality survival show officially unveiled the eight final members of its highly anticipated new boy group, IDID, during the live broadcast of ‘EP.9 Final Debut LIVE’ through the New Kids on the STARSHIP YouTube channel on June 4.

After months of intense training and performances, eight trainees — Kim Min-jae, Jang Yong-hun, Baek Jun-hyuk, Park Won-bin, Chu Yoo-chan, Jung Se-min, Park Jun-hwan, and Park Sung-hyun — secured their slots in the debuting lineup of IDID. The announcement came after rigorous evaluations by the Debut’s Plan board and fan votes collected over the course of the show’s run.

The finale kicked off with a unit performance of the show’s signal track, “ImPerfect,” and was followed by team stages curated by fan-matching votes. Team “Piercing the Dream” featured Kim Min-jae, Park Won-bin, Park Jun-hwan, Jang Gyu-hyun, Jang Yong-hun, and Chu Yoo-chan, while team “Blooming CROWN” included Kim Ji-yong, Park Sung-hyun, Baek Jun-hyuk, Woo Ha-o, Lee Tae-gun, and Jung Se-min. Each group showcased their growth through powerful performances that drew praise from both the trainer team and the board.

Kim Min-jae stole the show by gaining the top spot, starting his IDID career as an official all-rounder. Closely behind was fan-favorite Jang Yong-hun. Rounding out the lineup were Baek Jun-hyuk, Park Won-bin, Chu Yoo-chan, and Jung Se-min — who was selected through a “FAN SAVE.” Special mentions were Park Jun-hwan, saved by the board, and Park Sung-hyun, who advanced thanks to a ‘Debut Super Pass’ and ultimately also resonated with the executive judges.

The finale was further elevated by cameos from the Starship family — MONSTA X members Joohoney, Shownu, and Kihyun; CRAVITY’s Serim, Allen, and Seongmin; WJSN’s Summer, Dayoung, and Yeonjung; and IVE’s Gaeul, Liz, and Rei — who came out in full to support the newest generation of Starship talent.

Although only eight made the official debut cut, the remaining contestants, including Miyata Haru, Suzuki Kaira, Lee Woo-ju, and others, joined the live event for an emotional closing. The trainees delivered an unforgettable final group performance of “Let the Universe Be Like This,” stirring heartfelt reactions from fans and idols alike.

MONSTA X’s Kihyun praised the moment, stating, “This was the best stage of the night. Don’t forget this feeling and move forward with confidence.”

Symbolizing effort and persistence, IDID’s name embodies the spirit of achieving dreams through determination. Set to debut in the latter half of 2024, IDID is poised to be a defining force among 5th generation K-pop acts. Global fans are holding their breath with excitement, ready to welcome the rise of a new legend in the making.
