TWS Makes History as the First 5th-Gen K-pop Boy Group to Achieve Music Show Grand Slam

TWS dominates Korean music broadcast rankings with six wins and global chart presence

K-pop’s rising boy group TWS has officially achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the first music show grand slam of 2024. On April 4, the group took first place on SBS Inkigayo with the title track “What’s the Hype in Following Your Heart?” from their 3rd mini-album TRY WITH US.

With this latest win, TWS completed a clean sweep of all major weekly South Korean music shows. Starting from ‘The Show’ on SBS M and SBS funE (Mar 29), their dominance continued on Show! Champion (MBC M and MBC every1), M Countdown (Mnet), Music Bank (KBS2), Show! Music Core (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation), and finally culminating in the win on SBS.

This feat marks the first time a 5th-generation K-pop boy group has secured a music show grand slam. Having debuted just one year and three months ago, TWS continues to carve an impressive footprint within the Korean pop industry.

In a heartfelt acceptance speech, the members shared, “We once told our fans, 42, that we wanted to be like paints of various colors beside you. But every time, it feels like it’s actually you who strengthen us. Thank you for your love and support. We’ll continue to work even harder as TWS.”

Their third mini-album TRY WITH US is riding a strong commercial wave. The album topped both the Hanteo Chart and the Circle Chart weekly rankings. Within just five days of its release, it broke the group’s personal record for highest initial album sales, earning them the title of “half-million seller” for the fourth time.

On the international front, the album ranked No.2 on Oricon’s Weekly Combined Album Rankings and No.5 on Billboard Japan’s Hot Albums chart. The track “What’s the Hype in Following Your Heart?” also hit No.2 on YouTube’s trending music in Korea and continues to chart high two weeks post-release. In addition, the song’s consistent rise on Melon’s Top 100 and daily rankings signals its potential to become a long-lasting hit.

Looking ahead, TWS will perform at KCON JAPAN 2025, to be held on April 11 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, promising global fans another dose of their signature refreshing energy.
