After Hell: JTBC’s ‘The Atypical Family’ Delivers Emotional Teasers Before Episode 6

JTBCs The Atypical Family reveals teaser images of emotional hell weighing room before episode 6

JTBC’s weekend drama ‘The Atypical Family’ is quickly gaining momentum, with its latest teaser images ahead of episode 6 stirring intense speculation among fans. As the characters grapple with moral judgment and the literal weight of sin, the aftershocks of a descent into hell take center stage this week.

On June 4th, just before the broadcast of episode 6, the drama’s production team released stills featuring pivotal moments in the weighing room—where Hae-sook Lee (played by Hye-ja Kim) and Young-ae Lee (played by Jeong-eun Lee) stand on the precipice between heaven and hell. The room, eerily quiet and heavy with tension, holds the potential to divide their fates decisively.

Adding to the intrigue is the sighting of Seok-goo Son’s character, Nak-jun Go, on Earth alongside Som-yi (played by Ji-min Han), further blurring the lines between afterlife and human realm. In previous episodes, Hae-sook met her fate after filling all six ‘grape orbs’ of sin and was sent toward hell. Her ambiguous classification led her to the weighing chamber, where her ultimate fate lies in balance.

Meanwhile, Nak-jun Go braved the inferno of hell to rescue his wife, struck a deal with Yeom-ra (played by Ho-jin Cheon), and subjected himself to punishment under the promise of retrieving her if he endures every type of hell. The suspense intensifies as viewers notice the scale’s needle trembling at the 50kg cutoff with Hae-sook standing on it, her expression void of hope while Yeom-ra watches with a calculating glare.

Even more mysterious is the motionless needle on Young-ae’s scale—indicating a possible clue into her soul’s purity or deep-seated secrets yet to be unveiled. Will this be the final separation between the two women?

In another emotionally charged moment, Som-yi appears on Earth for the first time, straying from her usual spot waiting in heaven. The reasons for her return are unclear—did she follow Nak-jun, or uncover forgotten pieces of her past? Standing stunned in the middle of a road, her reappearance may be key to twisting the storyline going forward.

The upcoming episode promises to delve deeper into the aftermath of hell’s judgment, Nak-jun’s staggering journey back from the underworld, and whether the scales will finally tip toward redemption or eternal damnation.

‘The Atypical Family’ Episode 6 airs tonight at 10:30 PM KST on JTBC.
