Korean Comedienne Caught Up in Bizarre Marriage Rumor

Meng SeungJi caught up in fake marriage announcement spreads online with hilarious twist

Veteran South Korean comedienne Meng Seung-Ji found herself at the center of an unexpected online hoax this week. On June 4, the entertainer shared a screenshot on her personal social media account, revealing a direct message (DM) claiming that she was getting married.

The message read, “Thanks to everyone’s blessings and love, we’re getting married,” and astonishingly included a bank account number, apparently to collect congratulatory money.

Rather than reacting with frustration, Meng Seung-Ji responded with her characteristic humor, writing, “Who are you? Congratulations on your marriage!”

Born in 1986, Meng Seung-Ji debuted as a comedian in 2013 through the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) open recruitment program. She later gained recognition for her roles in various MBC entertainment shows, including Section TV Entertainment News, Fall into Comedy, and Infinite Challenge – Real Men Female Soldier Special.

Currently, she is actively performing in a theater production titled Male Friend, Female Friend.

This incident not only showcases the viral nature of internet pranks but also highlights Meng Seung-Ji’s enduring popularity and sharp wit. It serves as a reminder of how public figures often become targets of online misinformation — but sometimes, laughter really is the best response.
