In its 704th episode aired on June 3, KBS2’s legendary music show Immortal Songs paid tribute to Artist Joo Hyun-mi, continuing its impressive run as the number one show in its time slot. According to Nielsen Korea, the previous episode achieved a nationwide rating of 5.2%, maintaining the show’s 117-week streak at the top.

Celebrating a Legend Through Music

This special tribute episode featured performances by rising and established artists including Kim Soo-chan, Son Tae-jin, Kwak Young-kwang, Cheon Rok-dam, and Kim Junsu. Each artist reinterpreted Joo Hyun-mi’s classics, adding a modern twist to her legendary discography.

Kim Soo-chan opened the show with a lively rendition of We Meet Again, energizing the crowd with his trendy vocals and infectious stage presence. Joo Hyun-mi praised him, calling him “the best” and marveling at his polished stage persona.

Kim Junsu closed the first segment with a standout performance of Yeongdong Bridge in the Rain. He integrated traditional Korean musical elements into the arrangement, offering a unique and refreshing experience. Joo Hyun-mi, a self-proclaimed fan of Junsu, praised his ability to project sadness, longing, and introspection with his special vocal color.

Cheon Rok-dam Earns Victory
