Hangout with Yoo Returns to the Mountains: A Promise Fulfilled in Hongcheon

On the May 3rd episode of MBC’s popular variety show Hangout with Yoo, Yoo Jae-suk and Haha return to a remote mountain village in Hongcheon to fulfill a promise they made last year. Joined by guest Lim Woo-il, the trio embarks on a memorable journey that showcases heartfelt human connections and local flavor.

In a special episode aired in 2023, Yoo and Haha temporarily turned into delivery drivers for a day. During that time, they visited an off-the-grid village in the mountains of Hongcheon, where they made meaningful bonds with the villagers — especially with a joyful elderly woman named Yeom Hee-han. They promised to return in May the following year to share a meal featuring ginseng, a local delicacy.

This year, Yoo impressively navigates back to Yeom Hee-han’s house without GPS, and she welcomes the team with warmth and humor. Post-broadcast, Yeom Hee-han reportedly gained local fame and even received an appearance request from the mayor of Hongcheon.

Guest Lim Woo-il, now a rising entertainer within MBC programs like I Live Alone and his fifth feature on Hangout with Yoo, adds to the laughter with his on-the-spot popularity test in the village. The episode also includes fun conversations with characters dubbed “Hongcheon Winter” and “Hongcheon Karina,” along with scenes of the trio enjoying diverse local delicacies.
