Baeksang Arts Awards 2024: JTBC Shuffles Broadcast Schedule to Air Star-Studded Ceremony Live
In a high-profile programming move, South Korean broadcasting network JTBC has announced a one-week hiatus for its popular shows ‘Case Boss‘ and ‘TalkPawon 25hr.’ This shift comes in light of the live broadcast of the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards with GUCCI, airing on May 5 at 8PM KST via JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4.
The prestigious ceremony will be held at COEX D Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, with a power-packed MC lineup featuring Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum.
This year’s drama category showcases fierce competition between tvN’s ‘선재 업고 튀어,’ JTBC’s ‘옥씨부인전 (True Beauty),’ MBC’s ‘이토록 친밀한 배신자,’ and Netflix titles ‘중증외상센터’ and ‘폭싹 속았수다.’
On the variety front, the contenders for Best Variety Program include tvN’s ‘무쇠소녀단,’ Mnet’s ‘Stage Fighter,’ Choo Sung-hoon’s ‘아조씨의 여생,’ ‘풍향고’ from Ddeun Ddeun, and Netflix’s ‘흑백요리사: 요리 계급 전쟁.’
As for acting honors, heavyweights like Park Bo-gum (Netflix, 폭싹 속았수다), Byun Woo-seok (tvN, 선재 업고 튀어), Lee Joon-hyuk (Tving, 좋거나 나쁜 동재), Ju Ji-hoon (Netflix, 중증외상센터), and Han Suk-kyu (MBC, 이토록 친밀한 배신자) are up for Best Actor.
The Best Actress category brings Go Min-shi (Netflix, 아무도 없는 숲속에서), Kim Tae-ri (tvN, 정년이), Kim Hye-yoon (tvN, 선재 업고 튀어), IU (Netflix, 폭싹 속았수다), and Jang Na-ra (SBS, 굿파트너) into the spotlight.
Variety individual awards also showcase familiar faces. Male nominees include Kim Won-hoon, Dex, Sung Si-kyung, Shin Dong-yup, and Yoo Jae-suk. For the female category, Lee Su-ji, Jang Do-yeon, Ji Ye-eun, Hae-won, and Hong Jin-kyung will compete.
