Ahn Jae-hong Embraces Superpowers and Transformation in ‘High Five’
Korean actor Ahn Jae-hong is making waves with his transformative role in the upcoming superhero comedy action film High Five, set to release on June 3. Distributed by NEW, the recently unveiled stills highlight Ahn’s stunning transformation into Ji-seong, a character with an extraordinarily powerful lung capacity, complete with a windblown bob haircut that reflects his superpower.
High Five centers around five individuals who, after receiving organ transplants from mysterious donors, acquire unique superhuman abilities. These unintentional heroes must band together to fend off those who covet their extraordinary powers. The film is helmed by director Kang Hyeong-cheol, known for his creative vision in previous hits such as Sunny, Scandal Makers, and Swing Kids.
Ahn’s character, Ji-seong, is a struggling aspiring writer who gains the ability to blow away everything in his sight after a lung transplant. His deep knowledge of superhero tropes leads him to seek out others like him, becoming a driving force behind the formation of team High Five. This role marks yet another image-defining performance from Ahn, who has previously impressed audiences in beloved dramas such as Reply 1988, Melo Is My Nature, and the Netflix series Mask Girl and Chiken Nuggets.
Commenting on his character’s look, Ahn explained, “Since Ji-seong is someone who controls wind, I wanted the movement of his hair to express that power visually. But more importantly, I aimed to convey the character’s personal growth alongside his abilities.”
Director Kang Hyeong-cheol added, “Ji-seong is someone who uncovers the value of his abilities and self-worth through the formation of High Five. I’m excited for audiences to see what Ahn brings to this role.”
With a perfect blend of comedy, action, and heart, High Five is poised to captivate fans of unconventional superhero stories. Don’t miss Ahn’s captivating evolution when the movie hits theaters this June.
