K-pop Stars (G)I-dle’s Yuqi and Miyeon Dominate China’s Music Charts with Solo Hits
South Korean girl group (G)I-dle continues to strengthen its global dominance as members Yuqi and Miyeon achieve remarkable success in China’s major digital music platforms with their solo releases.
Yuqi’s self-produced digital single, Radio (Dum-Dum), recently earned the coveted Triple Gold certification on QQ Music, China’s largest music streaming platform. The Triple Gold is awarded to digital albums with accumulated sales surpassing 750,000 RMB, reflecting the overwhelming support from Chinese fans.
This powerful momentum propelled Radio (Dum-Dum) to top the Korean chart on Tencent Music Entertainment (TME) for six consecutive weeks, from April 21st to 27th. In addition, the track remained in the Top 3 of QQ Music’s Weekly Digital Best-Selling Singles Chart during the same period.
Musically, Yuqi’s track is a medium-tempo boom-bap genre that poetically conveys heartbreak through the metaphor of a radio. The song was first performed during the group’s ongoing third world tour — (G)I-DLE WORLD TOUR [iDOL] IN SEOUL (2024) — and was officially released on streaming platforms on March 17.
Meanwhile, Miyeon partnered with Chinese singer and actress Jike Junyi for the track Glow Up, which is also soaring on the charts. Glow Up reached No.1 on the NetEase Cloud Music Korean chart as of April 24. Upon release on April 16, the song quickly climbed to No.2 on the platform’s Trending and Viral charts, resonating with listeners for its positive message of self-love and transformation.
Glow Up combines an energetic melody with uplifting lyrics, including the line “Love the person I see in the mirror,” reinforcing themes of confidence and inner strength. Jike Junyi, a former finalist on The Voice Of China Season 1, brought her vocal powerhouse to the collaboration, creating buzz even before the song’s release.
Beyond their group activities, both Yuqi and Miyeon are rapidly emerging as solo powerhouses in the international market, receiving widespread acclaim and charting high with their personal musical endeavors.
