Park Bo-young Returns in Dual Roles for tvN’s New Drama ‘The Mysterious Seoul’
tvN is set to captivate audiences once again with its upcoming weekend drama ‘The Mysterious Seoul’, premiering on May 24 at 9:20 PM. The series stars beloved actress Park Bo-young in a dual role, portraying twin sisters whose lives could not be more different — until a twist of fate compels them to walk in each other’s shoes.
Park Bo-young takes on the roles of Yoo Mi-ji and Yoo Mi-rae, twins who share a birthday but little else. Raised in different environments and living starkly contrasting lives, the sisters become entangled in a web of lies when circumstances force them to trade places. From that deception blooms a journey of self-discovery, relationships, and — perhaps — true love.
In their substituted lives, the sisters reconnect with Lee Ho-soo, a childhood friend played by Park Jin-young, and cross paths with local farm owner Han Se-jin, portrayed by Ryu Kyung-soo. Both men become key figures in their new lives — with Ho-soo reawakening old emotions and Se-jin introducing a connection formed in the fragrance of fresh earth and strawberries.
The story deepens with emotional ties and heartfelt moments. Park Bo-young described the trio’s evolving relationships as rooted in “friendship, love, and empathy,” emphasizing that, while scars may remain hidden, the healing emerges in genuine understanding between the characters.
Park Jin-young summarized the emotional undertone of the narrative in one word: “Firsts.” He noted that these relationships help characters relive the thrill and awkwardness of new, transformative experiences.
Meanwhile, Han Se-jin’s bond with the sisters grows amidst rows of strawberries and humid farm air. Actor Ryu Kyung-soo teased the emotional nuance of his role by calling their dynamic a “sweet strawberry,” hinting at subtle emotional shifts and sincere camaraderie.
Park Bo-young aptly dubbed their serendipitous encounters as “dreams, or guardian angels.” These whimsical metaphors reflect the drama’s message — that even lies can grow into beautiful truths when nurtured by hope and companionship.
‘The Mysterious Seoul’ promises a heartwarming blend of growth and healing, wrapped in a romantic saga strolling through twin identities and unexpected love. Don’t miss the premiere, airing May 24 on tvN.
