Big Bang’s Daesung Takes the Helm as Host of ‘Active Singer Japan’ on BS Nittere
Daesung, a legendary member of K-pop group Big Bang, has officially been announced as the host of ‘Active Singer Japan’, the Japanese adaptation of Korea’s top-rated vocal audition show. Produced to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic relations, the program will air on major Japanese broadcaster BS Nittere, with its first recording set for July 27.
‘Active Singer Japan’ is a male vocal audition show spotlighting J-Pop artists, offering a grand prize of 10 million yen. The show acts as a prequel to the Korean spinoff ‘Active Singer 2‘, weaving into a larger narrative that will culminate in a musical showdown between Korea’s top male vocalists and Japan’s newly discovered stars in the forthcoming Korea-Japan Singer Battle.
Daesung’s selection as the MC adds weight to the project, as he is not only respected for his career as a solo artist but also recognized for his cultural impact in both Korea and Japan. His previous work as a master judge on ‘Active Singer 1’ and ‘Active Singer 2’ drew praise for his ability to discover top-tier talent.
Further showcasing his versatile talent, Daesung took on hosting duties for the Korea-Japan music showdown ‘Korea-Japan Top Ten Show‘ where his smooth hosting skills and relatable charm were lauded. Daesung shared his excitement, saying, “It’s been 17 years since I began performing in both Korea and Japan. I’m thrilled to be leading a program that captures the energy of Japan’s top vocal talents. I plan to bring all my cross-cultural experience into my MC role, making it both heartwarming and fun.”
Aligning with the show’s production schedule, Daesung is also embarking on a Japan tour, performing in Kobe on July 22–23 and in Yokohama on August 30–31. Expectations are high for the synergy between his tour and his hosting role on the new program, as fans anticipate a new wave of cultural exchange and musical excitement between the two nations.
