Lim Young-woong Fans Shine with Monthly Charity for Children with Disabilities
Fans of South Korean singer Lim Young-woong, known collectively as Hero Generation, are making headlines not just for their enduring fandom but for their consistent community service. Their volunteer group Raon marked its 46th monthly meal service on April 19, providing food and support to Rodem House, a care facility for children with severe disabilities located in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province.
According to Raon, this month’s event included a donation of ₩1.82 million KRW (approx. $1,330 USD) and a carefully prepared meal featuring Korean traditional festive dishes. The group served seaweed soup, bulgogi, japchae, chive and mushroom pancakes, mini pork cutlets, crab stick salad, sweet potato lotus root stir-fry, rainbow rice cakes, and seasonal fruits like bananas, strawberries, oriental melons, and oranges. Sweet snacks like candies and cookies, as well as beverages and high-quality beef brisket (9kg), were also donated.
Raon shared, “To celebrate Disability Day with Rodem House, we curated a special banquet-style menu. Though the preparation was labor-intensive, we made sure to arrive early to ensure everything was ready on time. It was deeply rewarding to see the children enjoying the food with smiles.”
As dedicated fans of Lim Young-woong, the group stated, “We want to embody the values of sharing and caring that he represents by supporting marginalized communities and spreading warmth to those in need.”
Over the past four years, Raon has expanded its charity work far beyond Rodem House. They have supported substandard housing communities (known in Korean as jjokbang-chon), the Yongsan temporary container housing area, the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital, and youth organizations like Hope Merchants. Their activities range from meal service and donation drives to funding independence programs for disadvantaged teens.
To date, the total amount of donations and support provided by Raon under Hero Generation has reached approximately ₩157.27 million KRW (over $114,000 USD), emphasizing the powerful impact of fan-led philanthropy.
In a celebrity culture often focused on glamour, Lim Young-woong’s fans stand out for channeling their admiration into meaningful action. Through consistency, compassion, and culinary care, Raon is setting a new benchmark for what it means to be a fan in the modern era.
