‘The Divorce Insurance’ Sparks New Romance and Realistic Conflicts in Episode 7

The latest episode of tvN’s hit Monday-Tuesday drama ‘The Divorce Insurance’ sees a dramatic shift in the relationship dynamics between the main characters. Episode 7 aired on the 21st, showcasing Lee Dong-wook as Noh Ki-joon and Lee Joo-bin as Kang Han-deul, initiating a bold ‘house swap’ to explore their unique bond and personal growth.

Their cohabitation experiment brings unexpected changes. Ki-joon suggests the switch as a way to escape painful memories in his own home. Han-deul’s sparse, unadorned apartment juxtaposes Ki-joon’s fully stocked space, yet both approach their new environments with curiosity and cautious affection. Morning routines become shared experiences, suggesting an evolution beyond just friendship or work ties.

As they revisit the definition of their relationship—neighbors, colleagues, friends—they stumble over the elusive fourth category. “Our relationship is too in-between,” Han-deul comments awkwardly. Ki-joon responds with warmth: “Then let’s be in-between. I’ll be your protector.” This signals a turning point as their once ambiguous bond finds new clarity.

Elsewhere, the narrative explores deeper themes of commitment and pain through the supporting characters. The TF Team, investigating a divorce insurance case, discovers that a couple, Park Young-kyu and Woo Sun-hee, has moved forward with court proceedings. Ki-joon, alongside teammates portrayed by Lee Kwang-soo and Kim Won-hae, observes irregularities at Young-kyu’s acupuncture clinic—only to find he’s missing with a mysterious woman. Sun-hee seems emotionally disconnected yet reveals subtle loneliness, describing her husband as “still full of life.”

Ki-joon finds a loophole in the policy, stating the insured must not be currently involved in infidelity. While the team rejoices at potentially voiding the contract, Han-deul hesitates. Her empathy for Sun-hee clashes with Ki-joon’s pragmatic stance, leading to their first emotional confrontation.

Ki-joon later apologizes, fearing he had hurt Han-deul. She admits feeling disappointed not because of what he said, but because it came from him. Moved by her honesty, Ki-joon steps closer and confesses, “I can’t stay neutral anymore.” Their feelings culminate in a heart-fluttering scene, ending just a second before a kiss—leaving audiences eager for what’s to come.

In a parallel storyline, Lee Kwang-soo’s character An Jeon-man reminisces about Jeon Na-rae (Lee Da-hee) after placing a new chair in his home, where once only one existed. A mis-sent message resurfaces memories for Na-rae. As both characters step out into the night, it becomes evident—they’ve become integral to each other’s lives.
