Scene-Stealing Star Hyun Bong-sik Joins ‘Saturday Night Live Korea Season 7’

Veteran Korean actor Hyun Bong-sik is slated to appear as the host for Episode 5 of Saturday Night Live Korea Season 7, as confirmed by Coupang Play.

Making his film debut in 2014 with The Pirates, Hyun quickly rose through the ranks of Korean cinema, becoming one of the industry’s most sought-after scene-stealers. His breakout role in the acclaimed film 1987 brought him into the public spotlight, and more recently, he contributed to the record-breaking success of The Outlaws 4, which drew over 10 million viewers.

Hyun’s recent roles have highlighted his versatility, from leading the workplace dramedy series 직장인들 on Coupang Play to showcasing his range in the darkly comedic film 로비. Particularly in 직장인들, his high-caliber acting and spontaneous humor have made him a meme-worthy star, appreciated not only for his talent but also for his charismatic persona as a standout born in 1984.

Now, Hyun aims to bring his dynamic energy to the sketch comedy world on SNL Korea. With a solid foundation in both stage acting and screen performances, his appearance is one of the most anticipated of the season.

“Just hearing the name ‘SNL Korea’ gives me goosebumps. It feels like a dream to be standing on such an iconic stage,” Hyun said. “Though nervous, I’m committed to giving my all and delivering unforgettable laughs with Shin Dong-yup and the crew. I’ll throw myself into every moment.”
