Disney+ Unveils Noir Thriller ‘Nine Puzzle’ Starring Kim Da-mi and Son Suk-ku

Disney+ continues its foray into gripping K-content with the upcoming premiere of Nine Puzzle, a noir-inspired thriller starring Kim Da-mi and Son Suk-ku. Set to debut on May 21, the original Korean series unravels a chain of unsolved murders resurrected a decade later, pulling audiences into a web of secrets, suspicion, and psychological tension.

Nine Puzzle follows Ina (Kim Da-mi), a brilliant profiler and the only witness to a brutal homicide that occurred ten years prior. Doggedly pursued by Detective Han Saem (Son Suk-ku), who never stopped viewing her as a primary suspect, the two cross paths once again as new murders emerge — this time sharing haunting similarities with the original crime.

The show marks the return of acclaimed filmmaker Yoon Jong-bin, known for Suriname and The Spy Gone North. Yoon brings his signature cinematic grit to the small screen, amplifying the mystery with an elegantly unsettling visual style.

The newly released poster titled “The Memory of That Night” teases the chilling narrative with graphic storytelling. It captures Ina’s steps the night of the murder, using stark contrasts of black, white, and blood-red imagery to evoke a creeping sense of dread. Details like crimson rope laced along a wall and flickering porch lights elevate the scene’s tension, while glimpses of Han Saem hidden in the shadows hint at lurking danger and fractured trust.

Crafted with atmospheric artistry by renowned illustrator Yeon Yeo-in, the artwork isn’t just an aesthetic callout — it’s a narrative tool meant to echo the puzzle-like complexity embedded in the story’s core.

Exploring the evolving dynamic between past suspect and investigator, the series promises intricate storytelling and tightly-woven character chemistry. As their roles shift from adversaries to reluctant allies, the boundaries between memory and reality begin to blur. With psychological edge and visual intrigue, Nine Puzzle is poised to join the pantheon of must-watch global thrillers.

The release schedule includes six episodes dropping on May 21, followed by three on May 28, and the final two on June 4 — totaling 11 episodes for binge-watchers and mystery lovers alike.
