Chu revealed that academia was initially his primary focus, even earning a history certification while tutoring students. However, it was during a career counseling session in his senior year of high school that he realized his true aspiration. “I finally understood I was studying for the sake of studying, and realizing there would always be someone above me felt suffocating,” he confessed.
He decided to pursue acting, moving to Seoul to prepare for the university entrance exam in his final year. The intensity of competitors at acting academies often overwhelmed him, he recalled, “Seeing my peers perform breathtaking stunts and sing musical numbers made me feel small.”
