Actress Hong Hwa-yeon has joined the barrier-free version of the human drama Firefighter, inspiring audiences with her heartfelt narration. This film, based on the true events of the 2001 Hongje-dong arson incident, now offers a new kind of accessibility thanks to the collaborative effort led by the Barrier-Free Film Commission.

Contributing her voice in this version, Hong expressed immense gratitude: “I’m honored to have met the work ‘Firefighter’ through this barrier-free recording. I aimed to engage with a sense of responsibility and hope that audiences listen to the sincerity in my voice.”

Directed by Kwak Kyung-taek, who also participated in creating this barrier-free version, stated: “The film Firefighter has received a lot of love from audiences, and I’m thankful for another opportunity to share that love.” Both Hong and Kwak offered their talents voluntarily, reflecting the project’s deep sense of purpose and unity.

Wider Reach in the Community

Opening in December last year with over 3.8 million viewers, Firefighter‘s barrier-free version is set to reach even more people. Starting in July, the film will be available through community screenings, allowing for broader public access and interaction.
